Grand Cru Classé of Pessac-Leognan
Elaborated by Smith Haut Lafitte - View other products
Smith Haut Lafitte vineyard adventure began in 1365, under the leadership of the noble Bosq house. In the 18th century, the wines of the château experienced a real boom. Bought by the Scottish Georges Smith, the estate is renowned by its name. The passionate man built the charterhouse that we know and make a tribute to its Nordic origins by exporting the wine to England, thus contributing to the reputation of the cru.
The consistency of the quality of the wines and their reputation enabled Château Smith Haut Lafitte to rank among the Grands Crus in 1959.
Adorned with a sustained and brilliant color, this wine favors in its powerful bouquet the aromas of vanilla, toast, mocha and chocolate bequeathed by an eighteen-month aging in barrels. However the fruit - blackberry, blueberry - is very present; Underlying the nose, it regains its rights on the palate, which reveals still fiery tannins on the finish. Ample and long, the structure guarantees a solid potential.
