For 300 years, six families of owners have nurtured an indissoluble bond with Château Ducru-Beaucaillou, Desjeans, Bergerons, Ducru, Johnston, Desbarats and Borie.

Château Ducru-Beaucaillou owes its name to these "beautiful pebbles", called Graves Gunziennes, quartz pebbles carried by the primitive Gironde at the beginning of the early Quaternary, nearly two million years ago.
The proximity of the Gironde estuary with four daily tides, which stir up large masses of water, alleviate the harsh winter conditions, moderate summer heat waves and deflect hailstorms.

Perched on an exceptional site and terroir with a breathtaking view of the very close Gironde river, this Château dates back to the very beginning of the 13th century. And its name Château Beaucaillou spanned the centuries until 1795 when it was sold to Bertrand Ducru who to him added his name.

It is a second Grand Cru Classé following the prestigious list of 1855.

The vineyard area covers sixty hectares planted with Cabernet Sauvignon 70%, Merlot noir 30%.

The harvest is manual and sorted according to the plots.

The average annual production is around 333 barrels, ie around 400,000 bottles.

The wine is aged for 18 months in oak barrels containing 50 to 80% new wood before bottling.
