Grand Cru Classé of Pessac-Léognan
Elaborated by Smith Haut Lafitte - View other products
Smith Haut Lafitte vineyard adventure began in 1365, under the leadership of the noble Bosq house. In the 18th century, the wines of the château experienced a real boom. Bought by the Scottish Georges Smith, the estate is renowned by its name. The passionate man built the charterhouse that we know and make a tribute to its Nordic origins by exporting the wine to England, thus contributing to the reputation of the cru.
The consistency of the quality of the wines and their reputation enabled Château Smith Haut Lafitte to rank among the Grands Crus in 1959.
This 1998 red vintage from Smith Haut Lafitte is an evolved wine. Its red-orange color reveals still powerful scents marked by ripe fruits such as prunes, spices and game. Ready to taste, it still holds perfectly in the mouth. Everything is finesse and sweetness in this wine imbued with infinite wisdom.
