It is from the name of the English Constable Talbot, defeated at the Battle of Castillon near Bordeaux in 1453 which ended the Hundred Years War, that this important vineyard of Saint-Julien takes its name.

This Château is a fourth Grand Cru Classé on the prestigious 1855 list.

The vineyard covers about a little over 105 hectares, the vines of which are on average 35 years old and the production is around 530 barrels, i.e. between 600 and 650,000 bottles per year for an average red yield. from 4 to 5000 liters per hectare.

Grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon 66%, Merlot Noir 26%, Petit Verdot 5% and Cabernet Franc 3%.

Château Talbot also has 5 hectares in white, planted in Sauvignon for 80% and 20% in Sémillon. It is one of the oldest dry wines of the Médoc: Château Caillou Blanc.

All the harvest is manual and 40 to 50% depending on the vintage is aged in barrels for 15 to 18 months then bottled in an air-conditioned warehouse.
