Château Malartic Lagravière
A magnificent Domaine from the Pessac-Léognan appellation, known for its label proudly displaying a ship, Château Malartic-Lagravière is a true gem. Owned in the 18th century by the Comte de Malartic, Château was known as Domaine de La Gravière until 1850, when it took on its current name.
Since 1997, it has belonged to the Bonnie family, who, vintage after vintage, have continued to sublimate the wines with energy and passion, elevating Malartic-Lagravière among the greatest names in Bordeaux.
The Château Malartic-Lagravière is based on a 71-hectare vineyard planted on an exceptional Pyrenean gravel hilltop.
- The red grape varieties (62 ha) are 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. The grand vin is aged for 15 to 20 months in French oak barrels, 40 to 70% of which are new. The Réserve de Malartic is the Second vin rouge.
- The white grape varieties (9 ha) are 80% Sauvignon blanc and 20% Sémillon. The grand vin blanc is aged for 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels, 40 to 70% of which are new. The Réserve de Malartic is the Second white wine.
The Château Malartic-Lagravière is a great, very elegant wine, both red and white. The reds are fruity, fleshy and structured, while the whites are unctuous and saline. Quite simply, these are haute-couture wines.

Description Château Malartic-Lagravière 2022.
An astonishingly resilient vintage with a truly exceptional quality.
A magnificent vintage that, contrarily to expectations, triumphed over spring frosts, drought and heatwaves to offer superb balance, density and freshness.
This was a year in which the terroir demonstrated its extraordinary capacity for resilience when it is well cared for and the surrounding ecosystem is preserved.
While, at the end of August, the gardens and trees were already showing signs of fatigue and losing their leaves due to 2022’s four heatwaves and exceptional drought, the vines remained green and in excellent health.
To protect them against such extreme conditions, The vineyard was managed very carefully during July and August, by spraying calcium and clay, to give the vines relief from the heat, and aeration of the foliage around the bunches, but without thinning the leaves so as keep some protection against the sun.
