Château Pédesclaux

One does not remain indifferent in front of the modest but oh so modern building of Château Pédesclaux nor of its superb wine storehouse, right in the heart of the vineyard of Pauillac. Founded in the 19th century by Pierre Pédesclaux, Château would be named Fifth Grand Cru Classé in the famous 1855 classification for the Paris World's Fair.

A 180-degree turn occurred for the property in 2009 when it was bought by the Lorenzetti family, who restructured the vineyard and began a conversion to organic farming a decade later. Today, some of the vineyards are also managed using biodynamic agriculture. Another notable point will be the inauguration of a 100% gravity-fed winery in 2014 intended to produce the most refined wine possible.

The Château Pédesclaux watches over a 50-hectare vineyard located on deep gravel soils where clay and limestone are mixed in places. The grape varieties are 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. The wines are aged for 16 months in French oak barrels of which 60% are new.

The property produces a Second wine, Fleur de Pédesclaux.

The Château Pédesclaux wines are known for their beautiful structure, elegant tannic framework and refinement, where the purity of the fruit is expressed with opulence.
