Château du Tertre

Château du Tertre

In the 12th century, traces of this Château can already be found in the Archives of the Arsac seigneury, owned by the de Montaigne family, the famous French writer and Mayor of Bordeaux in the 16th century.

It borders Châteaux Cantenac-Brown and Brane-Cantenac to the north and Château Giscours to the east. It is situated on one of the Médoc's highest gravelly hilltops, from which it takes its name. Its vineyard is remarkable for two reasons: it's in one piece and it faces due south.

It's a fifth Grand Cru Classé following the prestigious 1855 list.

Varietal composition: Cabernet Sauvignon: 45, Merlot 30%, Cabernet Franc 20% and 5% Petit Verdot.

The grapes are harvested entirely by hand, and annual production is in the order of 255 barrels, or around 300,000 bottles.

50% of the wine is aged in new barrels for an average of 18 months, depending on the typicity of the harvest.

Description Les Hauts du Tertre 2022.

This second wine is characterised by its juicy, rich fruit and its full, supple texture.

The 2022 vintage has provided remarkable density and tension to this plot selection, perhaps more than in any other vintage.

The dominance of Cabernet Sauvignon in this blend makes this wine a true representation of the property.
