The Maison Zind Humbrecht is located in Turckheim, in the heart of the Herrenweg vineyard. The vineyard of this Maison, which has existed since 1620, is today run by Olivier Humbrecht, a descendant of this family of winegrowers.

The Domaine comprises some forty hectares of vines, spread over very different soils, but mostly limestone, the distinguishing feature of Grand Cru:

Rangen in Thann (5.5ha), Goldert in Gueberschwihr (0.9ha), Hengst in Wintzenheim (1.4ha) and Brand in Turckheim (2.4ha).

The average yield/ha is 35 hl/ha and varies according to vintage, Grand Cru and grape variety. Total annual production fluctuates between 12,000 and 16,000 cases.

Fermentations are slow, and wines spend at least 6 months on total lees. Bottling takes place 12 to 24 months after the harvest.

In accordance with its Charter, Premiers Grands Crus has selected only the Grands Crus of this house for your enjoyment.

Description Zind-Humbrecht Gewurztraminer Hengst Grand Cru 2015.

All the grapes used for Gewurztraminer are harvested on the Grand Cru Hengst, a terroir in the south of the commune of Wintzenheim on an imposing marl-limestone hillside with a south, south-east exposure and a medium to steep slope (35%), the distinctive signs of a Grand Cru, and where the average age of the vines is 30 years.

The very low yield, thus increasing the quality of this vintage, was 3600 liters per hectare and the wine was 14.5%.

The robe is deep gold and the nose is very nice and spicy.

In the mouth: beautiful silky palette. Very mineral and expressive finish, discreet residual sugars.

Optimum tasting : 2020-2040 (the ageing in cellar year after year will only increase the qualities of this remarkable wine).

Pairings : as an aperitif with a foie gras or smoked salmon canapé or a seafood platter or at the end of the meal with blue-veined cheeses such as Roquefort or Bleu de Bresse.
