All the grapes used for Gewurztraminer are harvested on the Grand Cru Hengst, a terroir in the south of the commune of Wintzenheim on an imposing marl-limestone hillside with a south, south-east exposure and a medium to steep slope (35%), the distinctive signs of a Grand Cru, and where the average age of the vines is 30 years.

The very low yield, thus increasing the quality of this vintage, was 3600 liters per hectare and the wine was 14.5%.

The robe is deep gold and the nose is very nice and spicy.

In the mouth: beautiful silky palette. Very mineral and expressive finish, discreet residual sugars.

Optimum tasting : 2020-2040 (the ageing in cellar year after year will only increase the qualities of this remarkable wine).

Pairings : as an aperitif with a foie gras or smoked salmon canapé or a seafood platter or at the end of the meal with blue-veined cheeses such as Roquefort or Bleu de Bresse.

Size : 750ml
Appellation : Alsace Grand Cru
Vintage : 2015
Color : White

The Zind Humbrecht House is located in Turckheim, in the heart of the Herrenweg wine region.

This House’s vineyard, which exists since 1620, is currently managed by Olivier Humbrecht, a descendant from this family of winegrowers. The estate is composed of 40 hectares of vine, dispatched between very different soils, but mostly chalky, a distinctive trait of Grands Crus:

Rangen in Thann (5.5ha), Goldert in Gueberschwihr (0.9ha), Hengst in Wintzenheim (1.4ha) and Brand in Turckheim (2.4ha).

The average yield per hectare is 35 hl/ha and varies depending on the vintage, the Grand Cru, and the grape variety. The total annual production oscillates between 12.000 and 16.000 cases.

The fermentations are slow and the vines spend at least 6 months on total lees. The bottling process is done 12 to 24 months after the harvest.

Truthful to its Charter for your enjoyment, Premiers Grands Crus only selected Grands Crus from this House.
