Weinbach or literally “ winestream” was created in 1612 by Capuchin monks and they gave the name of “Clos des Capucins” to a 5 hectares piece of land surrounding the estate by boundary walls. This plot is mentioned as soon as 890, when Empress Richarde gave it to the Etival Abbey, who detached a part of it for the Capuchin monks.
The estate spreads at the foot of the majestic Schlossberg hill (classified Grand Cru), in a carpet of vines.
In 1898, the Faller brothers acquired this vineyard, which is today managed by Colette Faller and her daughters Catherine and Laurence.
The estate’s 30 hectares, whose headquarters are in Kaysersberg, are dispatched between 4 Grand Cru territories : Schlossberg, Furstentum, Mambourg and Marckrain and are planted in sylvaner, muscat, pinots, Riesling, gewürztraminer.
The yield by plot is very controlled in order to remain low with vine pruning at the beginning of winter, year after year, greatly mastered.
Truthful to its charter, Premiers Grands Crus is happy to present those exceptional wines, all classified Grands Crus.
