This wine’s origins are very ancient since in a literary and historical work it is mentioned that the Pomerol plateau was crossed by two antic paths, one of which was used by the poet Ausone to travel from the port of Condat near Libourne to his villa of Lucaniac.

The vineyard was more or less devastated during English occupation during the Hundred Years war, reconstructed in the 16th century, and then again damaged by the religious wars. Growth returns to the vineyard during the 18th century.

The ‘Pomerol’ controlled designation of origin is dedicated solely to wines harvested in the town of Pomerol and in a very small part of the town of Libourne designated by a ruling of the Civil court of Bordeaux dated to the 29th of december 1928.

This vineyard’s overall surface area amounts to 770 hectares and the maximum allowed yield is lower than for other Bordeaux Crus : 6000 liters per hectare.

It is a wine that is Bourgogne in its richness, Haut Medoc Bordeaux in its finesse and Saint-Emilion in its generosity. Hence it is a wine that begs to be aged to grow up and exquisite during tasting. Pomerol wine proves itself in this moment in all its qualities : shining at sight, velvet in the mouth, aromas of red berries, truffle and violet scents while the finish discloses silkyness and roundness. It is the only wine to our knowledge that can be paired with every delicacy for gourmets.
