What is the history of Maison Pierre Gimonnet?

It's around 1750 that we can find in the archives traces of the Gimonnets as winegrowers in Champagne, where they deliver their harvest to the Champagne trade. From generation to generation, they passed on their love of the vine. It wasn't until 1935 that Pierre Gimonnet began its own winemaking business. Michel, Pierre's son, joined the business in 1955. His passion and pragmatism enabled him to be a pioneer in parcel-based vinification, giving each terroir the opportunity to fully express itself. Today, Olivier and Didier Gimonnet embody the third generation, worthy heirs to an exceptional savoir-faire.

What is the terroir of Maison Pierre Gimonnet?

The vineyards of Maison Gimmonet cover around 30 hectares, located in the land favored by great Chardonnays: Côte des blancs. Located on slopes classified as Premiers Crus, Vertus and Cuis, and Grands Crus, Cramant, Chouilly and Oger, the vines benefit from deep rooting on chalky subsoils that give them freshness and ensure perfect ripeness of fruit and minerality in the wines. Massal selection is meticulously practiced, meaning that the most interesting vines are chosen from the best plots to be grafted when replanting.

Privileging environmentally-friendly viticulture, the Gimonnet family runs its vineyards using integrated agriculture, limiting the use of inputs to respect the soil and doing everything to pRéserver the biodiversity of its ecosystem. Practices that privilege the purity of the fruit and shape the expression of their Champagnes.

What are the emblematic cuvées of Maison Pierre Gimonnet?

The House of Gimonnet's Champagnes have a style that is defined by three essential criteria: a faithful reflection of their terroir and origins, an invitation to pleasure thanks to freshness and complexity, and good cellaring potential.

So the house offers many fine cuvées:

Their Brut Cuis 1er Cru is a Champagne full of finesse, vivacity and a lovely aromatic breadth, suitable for all occasions.

Also in Premier Cru, their cuvée Gastronome 1er Cru vintage 2018 delights with its elegance, balance and beautiful body on the palate that provides gourmandise and pleasure.

Let us evoke the cuvée Special Club Oger Grand Cru vintage 2015, signature of the richness of Côte des blancs. A delicate, creamy Champagne, whose fine aromas and subtle minerality will accompany gourmet meals in particular.
