Chateau de Chamirey

Chateau de Chamirey

This is a Château located on the heights of Mercurey which can be traced back to the 18th century in the archives of the family.

This is the 5th generation that today takes care of the vineyard of this remarkable Château whose total area amounts to 37 hectares of which 27 hectares are planted with red grapes of the Pinot Noir grape variety and 10 hectares with white grapes of the Chardonnay variety.
Only 15 hectares are classified as 1er cru and Premiers Grands Crus, true to its chart, has retained only wines from terroirs classified Premier Cru exclusively.
The entire vineyard is farmed using sustainable farming methods on a rocky, limestone terrace for the whites and a soil dominated by ferric oxide for the reds. The average age of the vines of Domaine is 35 years. All the grapes are harvested manually with double sorting of the berries in the vineyard and in the press.
The wines are aged in 400 liter French oak barrels and 228 liters for part in new barrels and on average for 14 months, depending on the specifics of the harvest and the climate.
