Discreetly nestled in the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation, Château Saint-Pierre reveals a nectar with unsuspected charm. Records from 1693 attest to the existence of Domaine, which was then called Serançan. It was the Baron de Saint-Pierre who bought it under the reign of Louis XV, and following several successions, it was divided up and dispersed. Then it was in 1982 that with passion and tenacity, Henri Martin reconstituted the Château as known in 1855, the year in which it obtained the title of Fourth Grand Cru Classé during the classification of the wines of the Médoc formalized for the Paris World Fair.
The Château Saint-Pierre occupies a vineyard of 17 hectares of vines, planted with 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. The soils are gravel of Günzian origin, and the subsoils are clay and sand. The wines are aged for 14 to 16 months in oak barrels, 50% of which are new wood.
The Second wine of Domaine is named Esprit de Saint-Pierre.
The Château Saint-Pierre is recognized as a perfect representative of the great wines of Saint-Julien: complex, round and deliciously aromatic.
