Eglise-Clinet

Eglise-Clinet

It was in the 1880s that the great-grandfather of the current owners of Château-l'Eglise Clinet brought together several small parcels of Clos de l'Eglise and Domaine from Clinet to call it L'Eglise-Clinet.

Today, the vineyard has an area of about 6.5 hectares and rests on sloping, well-drained clay-gravel soil, an important condition for the sanitary condition of the grapes at harvest time.

Variety: 85% Merlot Noir and 15% Cabernet.

The Château is located a few blocks from Château Petrus and the average age of the vines is 40 years. The annual production is about 30 barrels or about 35,000 bottles and the vintages reach their peak after 10 to 12 years of aging in cellars away from light, noise at a constant temperature between 14 and 16°C.

All the grapes are harvested by hand and the wine is aged for 15 months in barrels of which 30-50% in new barrels.
