Haut Medoc

A strip of land that stretches from the outskirts of the north of Bordeaux, along the Garonne and then the Gironde, composed of little towns entitled to the controlled designation of origin ‘Haut-Médoc’ (AOC) and has five classified Grand Crus :

Château La Lagune, Château La Tour Carnet, Château Belgrave, Château Cantemerle and Château de Camensac.

The total area amounts to 4800 hectares with an average production of 32 millions of bottles, of which the classified Grand crus only represent 4% of the production.

The vineyards of this famous controlled designation of origin are planted with Cabernet-Sauvignon or franc, Merlot Rouge, Malbec and Petit Verdot varieties.

The maximum allowed return must be 6600 liters per hectare but it was only 4800 allowed liters in 2006.
