It was from 1694 that Jacques de Pichon, Baron de Longueville, First President of the Parliament of Bordeaux gave his name to this renowned vineyard, acquired by marriage from the Rauzan family.

The vineyard, contiguous to that of Château Latour, stretches over a high plateau bordering Pauillac and Saint-Julien.

It is a Second Grand Cru Classé from the prestigious 1855 list.

The vineyard, which covers approximately 70 hectares of quaternary gravel and deep ferruginous concretions, is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon 60%, Merlot noir 35%, Cabernet franc 4% and Petit Verdot 1%.

Annual production is of the order of 200 barrels, ie around 240,000 bottles, or an average yield of 3,400 bottles per hectare, a very low yield.

The harvest is manual and sorted in the cellar. The wine is aged in its entirety in barrels of which 80% in new barrels for 15 to 18 months depending on the characteristics of the vintage wine.
