The origins of the Bélair House date back to the 14th century. This wastle was then property of Robert de Knolles, a brave seneschal from Guyenne, contemporary to Bertrand du Guesclin whom he fought, and is a character we can find traces of in the Archives of France.

This castle’s vineyard is set on a clay-limestone soil and is a Premier Grand Cru ranked B Saint-Emilion, following the last ranking of 2012.

The vineyard spreads on about 14 hectares of an average age of 35 years and production amounts to 53 barrels per year depending on the vintages, that is to say 64 to 65.000 bottles for an average yield per hectare of 3.400 to 3.500 litres.

Grape varieties : Merlot Noir 80% and Cabernet Franc 20%.

The whole harvest is done by hand with crates and the wine is matured entirely in barrels, of which 60% in new barrels, for 18 months depending on the year, before being bottled.
